Words to live by...

The mind, properly controlled, can do just about everything. You can think your way through adversity, you can think your way through problems. It is a super powerful instrument which so few use to maximum. And if the mind thinks with a believing attitude one can do amazing
things.

Turris Fortis Mihi Deus

God is My Tower Of Strength

There is a tradition among the Kellys that they have borne this fabulous animal, the green Enfield, since the days of Tadhg Mór O'Kelly who fell "fighting like a wolf dog" against the Danes with the High King Of Ireland, Brian Boru at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014AD. When Tadhg Mór fell this animal issued from the nearby sea to protect the dead body of the chief until it was retrieved by his O'Kelly kinsmen.

The animal is sculptured on many old tombstones of the Kelly family in the Abbey of Kilconnell, and in the old church of Cloonkeen.

One commonly held heraldic definition of an enfield is: A most extraordinary creature, it is composed as follows; the head of a fox, the chest of an elephant, the mane of a horse, the forelegs of an eagle , the body and hind legs of a hound , and the tail of a lion.

Or: A hybrid animal, with the head of a fox, chest of a greyhound, talons of an eagle, body of a lion, and the hind legs and tail of a wolf.

Another definition from an 1859 journal discussing the discovery of a bronze ancient (c.1400's AD) O'Kelly hand wax seal uncovered 20 ft beneath a bog on an excavation project, considerable research was done on the origins of the O'Kelly enfield on the seal:
"The Enfield is a heraldic animal, having the head of a fox, the breast feathered as an eagle's, the foreclaws also of an eagle; the remainder of the body that of a wolf." It follows from such description that the enfield, being compounded of the fox, eagle, and wolf, indicated that he, by whom it was borne, was reputed to possess the subtlety and cunning of the first named beast; the magnanimity and fortitude, with the honour, labor, industry, and diligence, in great manners, of the eagle; and the fierceness of the wolf." I find this account more believable since it seems to have a historical reference.

Can you imagine???

I found these ads on a website I frequent and they blew me away. Now anytime anyone complains about how slow their system is or how expensive computers are I take a look at these pictures and have a chuckle. I want to print them out and post them around my office so I can point them out when users visit.

Take a look and think back... how many of these systems did you own?

Into the Fray

How does one begin blogging? Where does one get the idea "hey, I want to share my thoughts, my life, with all that is the internet"?

The thought was planted in my mind over a year ago thanks to Facebook and one of my friends from university. I had noticed that she had a blog and when I visited it, I was intrigued. She was sharing her thoughts, her perspective and her experiences. It was interesting.

Could I do the same? Do I have something to say? Do I have something to share? I let the thoughts roll around.

Then one afternoon while perusing a cool website I came across an article, Establish and Mintain Your Online Identity. Now, I'm not going to run out and buy a domain name... there is just way too much risk of people using any information I supply against me. I don't need to suffer through an Identity Theft experience. The article did mention though, to use your purchased domain name as a portal to a personal blog. There was that word again... blog. Hmmmm? The thoughts started buzzing again.

Last night as I was watching the baseball game (Jays have so much potential. Why can't they get their shite together?), I happened to come across another blog of an artist talking about is work. I am a big fan of sculpture, I collect a fair share of them, enough to drive my wife crazy, and this artist's blog put his work, his process, his thoughts out there for all to share. Way cool!

Sports? Blogs are all over the place for fans to express their thoughts. One of my favourites is Razzball. Dude is hilarious. Can I do this?

I have a ton of opinions on just about any topic, ask my wife.

I am always right... again, ask my wife.

Maybe I do have something to say afterall. Well it starts today I don't know how long I will keep it up...if it will sustain my interest, but this will be the blog about my life, my story... Chasing my Tale.

Cheers.
